First thing I had to find out was what exactly they were looking for. All they specified that they wanted was a floral wall. Which was great! As an artist I love and can really shine when I have the freedom and flexibility to add my own flare. Not only do I have my own style but I also have the knowledge to know what works well mechanically speaking. I went with a mix of flowers regarding shapes, sizes and colors. Colorful weddings have been popular this year so I went with a bright vibrant mix for the hanging arch/canopy piece. I included dahlias, free spirit roses, bells of Ireland, hydrangeas, peonies, hypericum, spray roses, sweet peas and mixed greens.
This arrangement I constructed mostly off site then added some finishing touches once I was there at the studio. It was a very heavy piece so it took several people to prop it up and get it situated. The polls that the metal frame part were hanging from are shepard’s hooks that normally go into the ground so it was a bit trickier getting it set up on a solid wood floor. Give a florist some floral wire and they turn into MacGyver! This was a little extra nerve wreaking considering it was being filmed on live TV! This is a piece that is often used by couples to get married under and it makes an excellent place to take pictures!
The second piece I made I, with help from my husband, was completely constructed from scratch. We used various pieces of wood, chicken wire, foam, tape, fabric and a staple gun to make the frame. Then I made a floral wall on the frame out of moss, hydrangeas, dendrobium orchids, greens and grasses. This type of arrangement can be any size you want and can also be multi functional. Depending on the size you can use it for pictures, in the back of a sweetheart table, cake table, guest place card table, etc… It is definitely a statement piece and will be enjoyed by you and your guests!
For the news studio itself… lets just say I was like a kid in a candy shop! I’m not the person that watches a ton of TV and wasn’t interested in the people there. I was interested in how everything looked and worked! It was neat to be watching the girl give the live news and see it live on a TV in another room. All the people hustling around in their windbreakers and YES they really wear those windbreakers! I thought it was cool! My fav was the weather!!! I got to see the weather report on the blank green screen. I have seen green screen on TV but never in person before. It was amazing!
