I could go on forever about Doc but back to Mr. W. I originally wanted to take some of the animal classes that they offered at my high school. Well, that didn’t last too long. Rather quickly I found I didn’t like or respect some of the very shallow views of several of the agricultural teachers. I went through the whole process of transferring back to my local high school. Then when it came time to actually leave the high school I was in I couldn’t do it. I made wonderful friends and the teachers in the regular part of the high school were great!
At that point I decided let me try the “plant class” since I hadn’t had that agricultural teacher yet. The “plant class” which was actually called horticulture and taught by Mr. W was a perfect fit! Before that I had never really thought about plants or flowers much more than they are pretty and I liked to help in my grandparent’s huge veggie garden. Mr. W was warm, open minded and you could tell that he loved being a teacher! After I graduated we kept in touch and I loved when he would pop into the flower shop I worked at to see my latest creations. He became like an uncle to me. Mr. W has since passed on and I miss him as well! I truly credit him with so much of my foundation knowledge of floral design. A good foundation is an absolute must in almost anything you do if you want to be successful at it! He also taught me if you love what you do you will always be happy!
